Having
a Mary Heart in a Martha World
by Joanna Weaver
The
life of a woman today isn’t really all that different
from that of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. Like
Mary, you long to sit at the lord’s feet…but
the daily demands of a busy world just won’t leave
you alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and really want to
serve him…yet you struggle with weariness, resentment
and feelings of inadequacy. Join us for this study as we
take a fresh approach to a familiar Bible story. This author
will show us how to draw closer to our Lord: deepening our
devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with
less stress and greater joy. (Registration fee $15)

Discerning
the Voice of God: How to recognize when God Speaks
By Priscilla Shirer
The
Father desires a personal relationship in which He speaks
directly to you. Have you spent most of your Christian life
leaning on these beliefs without really experiencing them?
In her follow up study to He Speaks to Me, Priscilla Shirer
leads participants with practical help in knowing what you
hear is from God. Through this study you will become more
familiar with God’s Holy Spirit, His character, language,
and tone of voice. This study includes daily lessons, weekly
group discussion, and a video presentation at the weekly
sessions. (Registration fee $12)

Fall
Bible Studies
DISCIPLE Studies:
The DISCIPLE series contains 5
courses which give the student the opportunity for 32-34
weeks of in-depth bible study. These are studies for those
who are really ready to dig deeper into God’s Word.
The first class, DISCIPLE I, is a prerequisite of the other
four Disciple classes, however, those classes can be taken
in any order.
DISCIPLE
I
This is a bible study for all who seek to learn about God's
Word. There is a youth study as well as adult. We will begin
this adventure moving through the biblical story from Creation
through Revelation. In this introductory class, we cover
the basics of the Bible through individual daily readings
and a weekly group meeting. Together we seek to become disciples
through bible study. (Registration fee $30)
Sunday evenings 6 - 8 PM (begins Aug. 24th)
Wednesday mornings 9:30 – 11:30 AM (begins Aug. 27th)
Thursday evenings 6:30 – 9 PM (begins Aug. 28th)

DISCIPLE II -
Into the Word, Into the World
This is the second study for those who have completed Disciple
I and teaches Bible study skills that take the participant
deeper into Scripture. Participants will be encouraged to
live as disciples practicing spiritual disciplines from
Scripture that transforms lives. Concentration is on four
books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts.

DISCIPLE IV -
Under the Tree of Life
This is the final study in the Disciple program. This course
concentrates on the writings in the Old Testament, New Testament
Scriptures of the Gospel of John; 1, 2, 3 John; James; Jude;
and Revelation. There will also be an emphasis on the Psalms
and a sense of living toward completion through the message
and promise that runs through Genesis to Revelation. (Registration
fee $30)
Jesus
in the Gospels
This study will look at Jesus in the various ways the Gospels
present him. Each Gospel has its own way of portraying Jesus
and expressing his significance. So each Gospel deserves
to be heard in its own right. So you might call Jesus in
the Gospels a “hearing aid,” carefully designed
to help all readers listen more attentively in order to
hear each Gospel story’s witness to Jesus. (Registration
fee $40)
Christian
Believer: Knowing God with Heart and Mind
Have you ever wondered what the church believes about God?
About humanity? About Jesus Christ? Where did the Apostles'
Creed come from? How were decisions made about church doctrine?
If you have, there is a course planned that will help you
think through these questions and many others. It is called
Christian Believer. It follows the same pattern as Disciple
Bible Study, though it is not necessary to have taken Disciple
to take this course. The course is demanding. It asks for
a 30 week commitment to a two-hour meeting once a week and
30 minutes a day for workbook study. You will encounter
many of the great theologians of the church. (Registration
fee $30)
Women’s Studies:
A
Heart Like His: Seeking the Heart of God Through a Study
of David
By Beth Moore
What keeps us from having a heart like God’s? If you’ve
ever experienced doubts, temptations, personal inconsistencies,
or losses, if you’ve anguished over family problems,
then this study is for you. This study, by Beth Moore, takes
you on an exciting journey to know King David, the man after
God’s own heart. On this journey you will experience
the ups and downs of the shepherd king, and you will come
to know and love his God in a new way. This 11-week, interactive
study includes personal, daily assignments and weekly, video-centered
group sessions. (Registration fee $17)
Walking
by Faith
by Jennifer Rothschild
Author, speaker, and recording artist Jennifer Rothschild
knows not everyone sees 20/20. Although Jennifer is physically
blind, God has taught her to see that living a life based
on faith rather than sight requires us to look at our situations
through a lens that filters out what is seen and, instead,
focuses on what is unseen – those things that are
eternal. This seven week study encourages participants to
take risks, give God control, persevere through hardship
and seek God. (Registration fee $12)
Power
of a Praying Woman
It may seem easier to pray for your spouse, your children,
your friends, and your extended family, but God wants to
hear your requests for your life too. He loves it when you
come to Him for the things you need and ask Him to help
you become the woman you have always longed to be. The Power
of a Praying Woman has led countless women into deeper,
more fulfilling prayer lives. Trust Him moment by moment
with the concerns of your heart and discover the awesome
power that prayer will release in your life. This study
has 10 weeks of lessons with a video and discussion at each
weekly session. (Registration fee: $15)
The Amazing
Collection: Paul’s Letters to the Pastors
The Amazing Collection is a study of the Bible, book by
book. In this study, we’ll look at more of Paul’s
letters beginning with Timothy and concluding with Philemon.
The study includes a video each week with discussion related
to the five daily homework lessons for the week. Please
note that books are distributed early for this class and
discussion begins on the 20th. You will get information
about picking up your book when you register. (Registration
fee $11)
The Blessing
of Friendships: Focus on the Family Women’s Series

friendship with other women! God gave us the desire for
relationships; and with commitment, vulnerability and respect,
we will grow and build each other up in love. Discover God's
design for friendships! As with all of His designs, the
results are immeasurable blessing and fulfillment. Topics

Anyone Home?—developing the fine art of listening.
(Registration fee: $10)
Men’s Studies:
The Quest
for Authentic Manhood
This study is the foundational level or ground floor of
manhood. This 24-session study focuses on a man's core identity
and gives an overview of basic manhood issues. It will help
men deal with various identity issues by looking back at
past wounds and other things that may have distorted their
idea of biblical masculinity. Throughout the course of the
study, men will learn how to clearly define manhood and
will finally be able to give a succinct and passionate answer
to the questions, "What is a man?" and "What
am I living to be?" There will be 12 sessions in the
Fall and the other 12 sessions will begin in January. Dr.
Jim Higgins will be the leader for this study. (Registration
fee: $11)
Ongoing Men’s
Study
We have a group of men who gather faithfully each week for
breakfast and bible study at Bailey’s Restaurant in
Powder Springs. Allen Richburg leads the discussion each
week with discussion focused on scripture. (No registration
is necessary for this study)

forever. (Registration fee: $10)
