The Counseling Center at McEachern UMC
About The Counseling Center
The Counseling Center was founded in 2011 by Rev. Cindy Blocksidge, Sr. Associate Pastor. As she fulfills the roles as an ordained pastor and licensed therapist, Cindy realizes the need to assist people in their faith and life journeys. Since its inception, the Center has expanded to include additional state licensed therapists who provide individual, couples, families and adolescent professional counseling. We are committed to provide opportunities and resources for the health of mind, body and spiritual wellness.
The Counseling Center is for therapeutic counseling needs only, not emergency/life or death intervention. If you need emergency/life or death intervention, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
What You Need to Know
Sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes and are available during the day, evenings, and weekends.
Scheduling an Appointment
Your first step is to call us at 770-943-3008, ext.1215 or email counselingcenterumc.org. You will usually be contacted within 24 hours for a brief evaluation so that you are placed with the licensed therapist best suited to meet your needs. Thereafter, the licensed therapist who receives your request for counseling will contact you to schedule your appointment time.
Forms will be emailed to you and must be completed prior to your first appointment. Please bring all the completed forms with you to that appointment and the therapist will review them with you as part of your session. Forms are also available for download here.
For all cancellations and rescheduling of appointments, 24 hours notice is required. Failure to provide such notice may result in a fee of one-half your normal counseling fee being charged. The Counseling Center reserves the right to bill for “no show” appointments or habitual late cancellations.
Fees and Reimbursement
The Counseling Center utilizes a sliding scale fee structure based on the client’s gross household income. Your fee will be discussed with you when your therapist schedules your first appointment. Payment is expected at the time of service and is the client’s responsibility for every appointment. We accept cash, checks, VISA, and MasterCard.
We do not accept insurance or handle claims, but many plans will accept us as an out-of-network provider. Upon request, clients are provided with an insurance superbill receipt to facilitate their insurance claim.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Janet Hendley-Granville, MA LPC
Janet is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. She earned her duel bachelor’s degree in psychology and business from the University of Laverne, California and her Master’s degree in professional counseling, (specializing in marriage and family counseling), from Argosy University.
Janet has provided therapy to families, individuals and groups – primarily using the CBT approach, but is also very comfortable with other therapeutic methods. She is trained and experienced in trauma focused therapy, conflict management, problem solving and life restructuring. Janet is very familiar with DFCS and DJJ procedures and processes, so working between those organizations and affected families is as seamless as possible. Because Janet recognizes that (in most cases) maintaining a healthy lifestyle can contribute to therapy success, she routinely recommends complementary treatment/ action plans to further help her clients.
Janet has been married for 30 years, is the mother of four and has two grandchildren. She enjoys reading, dancing, music, singing, traveling, writing and spending time with her family.
