Punto
Fijo is located on an arid peninsula along the Venezuelan
coast. It is the home of the third largest oil refinery in
the world, yet much of the community does not benefit from
the income of this refinery. Pastor
Juvenal Perez and his family have responded to God's call
to build a place for worship and lead this largely unchruched
community to know the love of God. McEachern Memorial UMC
joined Pastor Juvenal nearly 4 years ago, and in that time
has provided a structure where the community can come together
to hear the Word, sing praises and worship the Lord.
The work
is far from over. The people of Punto Fijo need YOU to continue
with their dreams. The community has a large population of
children, many of whom are orphaned or have no one home to
care for them due to parent work schedules and other factors.
As you walk through this area, children run to you, they know
you have something they need; they know you are there to help
them. Jesus can help them with domestic violence, poverty,
teen pregnancy, hunger and the myriad of other problems they
deal with every day.
