Welcome to MOPS at McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church! We're so glad you have found your way to our website, and we can't wait to share with you all the exciting things MOPS can provide you. This MOPS group has been in existence since 1998 and is located in West Cobb County on the corner of Macland Rd. and Lost Mountain Rd. in Powder Springs. MOPS is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian organization whose mission is to nurture every mom of preschoolers by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ.

Each MOPS charter group is slightly different but we all have common goals as designated by MOPS International. They are to

  • provide fellowship with women in the same phase of life
  • provide an atmosphere that is one of warmth, caring, and supportive
  • encourage personal growth
  • value diversity amongst mothers
  • build unity by sharing common needs and feelings
  • let every mom know she matters and what she does matters

We meet on the first and third Thursday of the month, September through May. Some of the things we do at the meetings include:

  • have breakfast every meeting, taking turns bringing food
  • have speakers relevant to this important phase of life
  • have small group discussion time to foster closer relationships
  • do a craft from start to finish without being interrupted
  • have monthly activities outside of our MOPS meetings which include Mom's Night Out and playgroups
  • publish a newsletter twice a month to share helpful information with our members

While the mother's needs are being met, the children (infants to pre-kindergarten) are involved in their own special program called MOPPETS. During our meetings the babies are cared for by the church nursery staff who have to meet state guidelines. The potty trained children have a carefully planned classroom time which includes activities such as

  • craft time
  • story time
  • outside time (if weather permits)
  • snack time

MOPS can provide a chance for you to meet other moms and make new friends, share ideas, laughter, and concerns, make a craft without interruption and enjoy a hot breakfast without having to cut up someone else's first! Hopefully, MOPS will provide an environment for you to feel comfortable and get real.

Here at MOPS we are dedicated to providing you an opportunity to experience joy, friendship, and spiritual growth. We also hope through the meetings and programs presented that you will receive real love, trust, and encouragement you all so deserve while experiencing the journey of motherhood.
