If God is so loving, why does He allow suffering?

When God made us, He gave us a wonderful gift of free will. God could have made us like a bunch of puppets who had no choice than to do what their creator directed them to do. Instead He loves us so much that He gave us the choice to either love and follow Him or not.

When Adam and Eve chose to rebel and not follow Him, sin and all its consequences entered the world. As long as there are people who choose to sin, there will be sickness, disease, suffering, and death. God hates sin. Nowhere in the Bible is God blamed for evil nor does it ever show Him taking pleasure in it. All that is evil and bad in this world is not God trying to hurt people. Think about it. God created us to have a relationship with Him. He doesn't want us to suffer. Suffering exists because people choose to sin. The fact is, God is not a passive spectator; He suffers with us.

"Praise be to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows." - 2 Corinthians 1:3-5
